Hi, I’m Maren!

I’m so glad you’re here. As a sex therapist and trauma specialist, I’m passionate about helping people feel more connected to themselves and their relationships. Whether you’re looking to explore intimacy, heal from past wounds, or navigate challenges in your sexual or relational life, I’m here to support you.

In addition to sex therapy, I specialize in trauma therapy using the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model—a powerful approach that helps people heal by understanding and integrating all parts of themselves. I often weave this trauma work into my sex therapy sessions, as I believe our experiences with intimacy and connection are deeply influenced by our pasts. By addressing the root causes of pain or disconnection, we can open the door to deeper healing and fulfillment.

I am also psychedelic-friendly and now offer ketamine-assisted therapy as part of my practice. This transformative modality can deepen healing and provide new insights, particularly for those working through trauma or seeking to reconnect with themselves in profound ways. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can explore these powerful tools with intention and care.

I know these topics can feel vulnerable or even intimidating to talk about, but I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can explore them at your own pace. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs, always with the goal of helping you feel empowered and whole.

Outside of therapy, you’ll often find me taking care of my Australian Shepherd and two Ragdoll cats, traveling with my partner, or spending time outdoors exploring the beauty of San Diego. I believe in bringing my full, authentic self to my work and meeting you exactly where you are on your journey.

Let’s work together to help you create the connection, joy, and healing you deserve.

My Experience

I received my BA in Psychology from the University of Southern California in 2016 (fight on!). I went on to receive my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego in 2018. I started practicing psychotherapy in 2017 when I worked with children and families with severe trauma. From 2018-2020 I worked for San Diego County in a psychiatric urgent care, helping those with severe mental illness receive emergency mental health and psychiatric services.

I am an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and hold a certification in Consensual Non-Monogamy through Sexual Health Alliance (SHA).

I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples/relationships as well as Emotionally Focused Therapy for Individuals (EFIT). I am also Level 1 trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) theory.

I am, however, eclectic in nature-- meaning I use the approach that best suits your needs and is tailored to you as an individual.

My Approach

My therapy style is friendly, casual, non-judgmental, and filled with humor and normalization. I often come from the view point of radical acceptance of who we are and what we are doing right in this moment.

My Clientele

I work with adults, transitional-aged youth (ages 18-25), elders, and all relationship styles. I am LGBTQUIA+ and polyamorous-identified and an ally for BIPOC communities. I work from a sex positive, kink-allied lens.
